Obituary

Shirley was tired and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 29, 2024.

A funeral service will be held celebrating her life at the Koinonia Christian Center on Friday, April 19th, 2024, with a viewing beginning at 11:00 am.

Shirley was born and matured into adulthood in St Catherine, Jamaica, the eldest of six children. She initially worked in clerical positions and later managed one of a companies' satellite offices. With a little drive and determination and the entrepreneurial spirit of her mother, she then franchised the same office and later added a second location. Shirley also founded and operated a small grocery store.

Answering the siren call by two of her siblings, she immigrated to the United States in the mid eighties and settled in Long Island, New York. She work for the Marriott where she would stay until her retirement.

Seeking warmer climate and a little slower pace, she sold her home and moved to Greenville, North Carolina at the turn of the millennium.

Shirley is known to her friends, neighbors and fellow church congregants as a caring and giving person. She truly loved God and tried to exemplify her faith through her works. She received tremendous joy from growing and decorating with many types of flowers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alberta (affectionately called China) and Victor, her two following sisters, Veronica and Sonia, and the youngest sibling, Faithlin.

Shirley is survived by her two sons, Peter and Richard, her much loved grandchildren, Camille, Kimberley, Peter John, Richard II, and Peter O'brien, and great-grandson Mekhi, siblings Keith and Hyacinth, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
